WAGOP offers solutions on culvert project mismanagement by WA Democrats
Bellevue—Washington Governor Jay Inlsee claims to care about the natural environment. But our state government dithered for more than a decade on properly maintaining basic infrastructure pertaining to culverts, large pipes under roadways that lead salmon and steelhead to spawning grounds. Pacific salmon are keystone species and play an essential role in the health and function of ecosystems, according to NOAA (The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). The health of our salmon in the Pacific[...]
Washington State Executive Ethics Board Fails Washingtonians. Twice
Bellevue—In recent weeks, the Washington State Executive Ethics Board has failed Washingtonians. Twice. The Washington State Republican Party (WAGOP) believes these failures to hold high-ranking state officials accountable is the unfortunate, but predictable, outcome of years of one-party rule in Olympia. One of the Executive Ethics Board’s failures involves the “Fishy Fergie Checks” scheme. This scheme purports to send low-income households money from a $40 million settlement in a price-fixing lawsuit against companies that sell[...]
WAGOP Chairman’s end of 2023 letter
Fellow Washington Republicans, As the New Year quickly approaches, I want to offer a few reflections on the year that’s ending while looking forward to what lies ahead in 2024 for the WAGOP. Here’s what we accomplished in 2023: At our State Committee meeting in August, WAGOP moved in a new direction—more outwardly focused, more active in taking control of media narratives and more determined to reach Washington voters fed up with crime and[...]

Bellevue—The WAGOP has filed a complaint with the Washington State Executive Ethics Board against WA Secretary of State Steve Hobbs for using taxpayers’ money to surveil critics (for the purpose of suppressing dissent), which is a violation of the Washington State Constitution and ethics rules. The Executive Board enforces the Ethics in Public Service Act, RCW 42.52. The full complaint can be read here. Filing this Executive Ethics Board complaint is unfortunate but necessary. It[...]

More winning from conservative candidates in school board and city council races
Bellevue—Common-sense conservative candidates, supported and highlighted by the WAGOP, achieved big wins in school board elections recently, as did conservative city council candidates across the state. In Federal Way, WAGOP Supported candidate Joan Marie Murphy, a former special education teacher, defeated teacher-librarian Gavin Downing for a position on the school board, by more than ten percentage points, or 1,800 votes, with 10,098 total ballots cast in her favor. In Skagit County to the north, WAGOP[...]
WAGOP’s Plan to tackle homelessness
Bellevue–With homelessness metastasizing across our state, WAGOP Chairman Jim Walsh recently unveiled Republicans’ plan to reduce homelessness, a crisis that has spread far beyond Seattle, Burien, even Spokane. More homelessness brings more crime and more lawlessness to our neighborhoods and public spaces. “There is a lot of frustration with the homeless issue and a general sense of the erosion of law and order,” says WAGOP Chairman Jim Walsh. “People want to see a return[...]
Common-sense conservative candidates, spotlighted by WAGOP, sweep school boards in Mead and Puyallup
Bellevue—Common-sense conservatives, supported and highlighted by the WAGOP, won big in last week’s elections, with Mead and Puyallup school boards securing conservative majorities. The Mead School Board, which serves north Spokane County, now holds a four-person conservative majority on its five-person board. “We were attacked as bringing partisanship into the race, but really it’s the opposite,” said winner Alan Nolan, who defeated 25-year incumbent Denny Denholm, according to reporting from The Spokesman Review. “Our[...]
