Bellevue— A win for WAGOP-endorsed candidate Chad Magendanz (LD5) in next week’s special election would end the Democrats’ supermajority in Olympia and help restore desperately needed balance to the Washington State Senate. Recently, The Seattle Times Editorial Board endorsed Magendanz, whose political opponent Victoria Hunt would be disastrous for WA state.
To be sure, the stakes in this race cannot be overstated, which is why WAGOP is employing a variety of Get Out the Vote methods including ballot harvesting.
During the evening on Saturday, Nov. 1, voters are invited to sip, socialize, and visit with candidate Magendanz at the legendary Headworks Brewing in Enumclaw for “Ballots & Brews Night.” Ballot harvesting, which is entirely legal in WA stake, can take on many shapes and forms. It can also be fun and engaging.
“This is what winning looks like,” says WAGOP Political Director Matt Brown. “Republicans coming together, turning in ballots, and doing it with energy. Ballots & Brews isn’t some stuffy political event, it’s people hanging out, supporting Chad Magendanz, and making sure every vote hits the box. We’re not sitting this one out; we’re showing up, together, and we’re going to take LD 5.”
Additional authorized ballot collection efforts are active in LD5. Voters in King County are encouraged to turn in their ballots on Nov. 1st at designated Vote-in-Person locations, or at the Headworks Brewery drop box in Enumclaw.
WAGOP, in collaboration with the King County Republican Party (KCGOP) and the Yakima County Republican Party (Yakima GOP), has expanded its successful Vote-in-Person and Secure Ballot Drop-off operations in Legislative District 5 that includes Enumclaw and Maple Valley.
This partnership aligns proven grassroots teams from Yakima and King counties in an aim to strengthen voter turnout, protect ballot integrity, and secure Republican victories in key races around the state. “We’re building on a proven program and methodology for boosting voter turnout,” says WAGOP Chairman Jim Walsh.
“I like to win elections,” adds Chairman Walsh. “Organizing ballot harvesting efforts in a targeted way is an effective way to increase voter participation and voter turnout among conservatives and Republicans. Of equal import, our Get Out the Vote program encourages and enables Washington voters to do their civic duty.”
