Bellevue—The Washington State Republican Party (WAGOP), in collaboration with the King County Republican Party (KCGOP) and the Yakima County Republican Party (Yakima GOP), is expanding its successful Vote-in-Person and Secure Ballot Drop-off operations in Legislative District 5 that includes Enumclaw and Maple Valley.
A win for WAGOP-endorsed candidate Chad Magendanz (LD5) in next month’s special election would end the Democrats’ supermajority in Olympia and help restore desperately needed balance to the Washington State Senate. On Sunday, the Seattle Times Editorial Board endorsed Magendanz.
This partnership aligns proven grassroots teams from Yakima and King counties in an aim to strengthen voter turnout, protect ballot integrity, and secure Republican victories in key races around the state. “We’re building on a proven program and methodology for boosting voter turnout,” says WAGOP Chairman Jim Walsh. “There are many reason Washington voters aren’t voting. Some have doubts about election integrity. Some only care about presidential politics. Some feel they don’t understand enough about the issues to cast an informed vote. Whatever the reason, our Get Out the Vote program encourages and enables Washington voters to do their civic duty.”
Three years ago, Yakima GOP successfully launched community-based ballot collection sites that ensure safe and transparent voter participation today. These methods encouraged GOP voters to vote and secured three wins in last year’s heated 14th Legislative District races in central Washington. These same methods are now being expanded to King County through the WAGOP and KCGOP partnership.
Currently, authorized ballot collection efforts, also known as ballot harvesting, are active in LD5. Voters in King County may safely return their ballots on October 25th or November 1st at designated Vote-in-Person locations, or at the Headworks Brewery drop box in Enumclaw. Ballot harvesting is entirely legal in Washington state.
“I like to win elections,” says WAGOP Chairman Walsh. “Organizing ballot harvesting efforts in a targeted way is an effective way to increase voter participation and voter turnout among conservatives and Republicans.”
Details, including site addresses and hours, are available at wagop.org/vote. Voters are encouraged to participate early and join the growing effort to deliver local GOP wins this November.
